Following the lifting of his suspension,
the lawmaker representing Bauchi Central, Senator Abdul Ningi has resumed duties at the Senate.
Dressed in a white native attire, Senator Ningi was seen being driven into the Senate complex on Tuesday.
The Senate had on March 12, 2024, suspended Senator Ningi. But the suspension was removed last month when Senator Abba Moro, the Deputy Minority Leader, moved a motion in which Ningi apologized and accepted full responsibility for his acts.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced Ningi’s unconditional reinstatement after hearing pleas from colleagues and lauding his valuable membership and achievements.
Two weeks prior to its intended expiration on June 12, 2024, Ningi’s suspension was removed.
The senator was suspended after he made a contentious accusation in an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation’s Hausa Service in March that the National Assembly had padded the 2024 budget by N28.7 trillion.
His suspension was announced after a three-hour debate in the Senate.
