Seun Kuti weighs in on Senator Natasha’s sexual harassment claims

Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti has weighed in on the ongoing sexual harassment scandal in the Nigerian Senate involving Senator Natasha Akpoti and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
In a recent Instagram Live session, Kuti declared his support for Senator Akpoti while criticizing Nigerian celebrities and feminists for not standing by the female lawmaker.
He said, “Regarding the sexual harassment case in the Senate, I stand with Senator Natasha Akpoti 100 percent.
“She isn’t even the first person to make such allegations. It’s appalling that all these so-called women activists are silent.
“They had something to say about Burna Boy’s alleged failure to fulfill a promise to Sophia Egbueje but shy away from important matters.
“These kinds of things cannot continue in this country. What that woman is saying is very serious. And yet, celebrities won’t speak out in support of her the way they all had something to say in defense of Annie Idibia against 2Baba.
“Many of these celebrities, especially Nollywood actors and actresses, benefit from the government through fraudulent grants, so they will never speak up about issues like this. I can’t openly protest to demand justice for Natasha, but I implore Nigerian women to support her.”
