Shettima commissions key projects at Borno Government House, praises Zulum

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday commissioned several multi-billion naira projects at the Borno State Government House in Maiduguri, including a new presidential lodge, Government House clinic, and other major facilities.
Other projects inaugurated during the visit were the new Governor’s Office Complex, protocol office, and the Government House Jumaat Mosque, where the Vice President joined Governor Babagana Zulum for Jumat prayers.
Shettima commended Governor Zulum for what he described as quality leadership and commitment to development, applauding his performance since assuming office.
The Vice President said he was pleased that Zulum, who succeeded him as governor, had continued to deliver good governance and tangible dividends of democracy to the people of Borno through meaningful projects across the state.
After receiving a briefing on the projects from the Acting Chief of Staff to the Governor, Babagana Mustapha Mallumbe, Shettima praised the standard of work executed by the administration.
At the newly commissioned Government House Clinic, Chief Medical Director of the Borno State Hospital Management Board, Prof. Abubakar Ali Kullima, said the facility would cater to over 2,000 Government House staff and their families.
“Staff members, reliably confirmed from the Permanent Secretary, are well over 2,000, even without their family members. A lot of productive time is wasted attending to these people’s health needs in other facilities located far away from this place,” he said.
Kullima added that the clinic is equipped with modern facilities capable of improving healthcare delivery within the Government House complex.
“We have antenatal clinic as well as the delivery room. We also have a theatre suite equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to provide surgical services, as well as a one-stop laboratory and diagnostic centre,” he said.
