Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on the people of Ondo State to re-elect Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Olayide Adelami, in the upcoming governorship election.

Speaking at the grand finale of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign in Akure, Shettima assured Ondo residents that Aiyedatiwa’s leadership would bring hope, prosperity, and unity to the state.

In a statement issued by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Shettima encouraged voters to make their voices heard by supporting the APC, highlighting that the re-election of Aiyedatiwa would send a powerful message about the strength and determination of the state.

Addressing a large crowd at the MKO Abiola Democracy Park, Shettima emphasized: “Governor Aiyedatiwa is not merely campaigning for a position—he is campaigning to bring hope, prosperity, and unity to every corner of Ondo State. This election represents a choice between progress and stagnation, between unity and division. It is a chance to stand with a party that has consistently delivered and with a leader who understands Ondo’s heartbeat.”

Shettima conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support for Aiyedatiwa, explaining that while the President was unable to attend due to a summit in Saudi Arabia, he was fully committed to Aiyedatiwa’s re-election. “President Tinubu has endorsed the Aiyedatiwa-Adelami ticket as the torchbearers of prosperity for Ondo State,” he said.

The Vice President urged Ondo residents to look beyond distractions, noting the APC’s role in strengthening the state’s economy and providing practical solutions for a brighter future. “Consider the real, practical solutions the APC offers to make the sun shine brighter in Ondo State,” he added.

Shettima expressed confidence in the resilience and leadership of Aiyedatiwa and Adelami, describing them as courageous leaders who have overcome significant challenges. He credited Aiyedatiwa for building a strong APC base in Ondo and uniting the party, even amid politically motivated attacks.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, addressing the crowd, called on supporters to vote for APC, expressing gratitude for the support and pledging to continue his development efforts. He also honored the memory of the late former governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, sharing that Akeredolu had envisioned Aiyedatiwa as his successor.

APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, joined in rallying support, vowing that “by the grace of God, Governor Aiyedatiwa will win the election.” He encouraged residents to vote en masse, emphasizing that a vote for Aiyedatiwa was a vote for unity, peace, and development.

Earlier, Vice President Shettima paid homage to the Deji of Akure Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, commending the royal father for preserving Akure’s rich cultural heritage. In response, the traditional ruler expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for approving a teaching hospital in Akure, the only state capital without one.

The rally saw the presence of prominent APC leaders and governors, including AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara, Hope Uzodimma of Imo, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, as well as other distinguished APC dignitaries.
