Shettima visits ailing ex-president Buhari in London hospital

By Kunle Sanni –

Vice President Kashim Shettima has paid a visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari, who is currently receiving medical treatment in London, Daily Trust has learned.

Sources revealed that Buhari, 81, was admitted to an undisclosed hospital in the UK, where he was initially placed in intensive care. However, he is said to have stabilized and is now recovering well.

A source familiar with the matter, who briefed Western Post on Thursday, said Shettima flew to London penultimate Sunday and visited the former president the following Monday morning.

News of Buhari’s illness surfaced recently, sparking concerns about his health condition. Reacting to the reports, Buhari’s former Special Assistant on Digital Communications, Bashir Ahmad, acknowledged that the former president was unwell but clarified that his condition was not critical.

“In light of the recent media reports suggesting that former President Muhammadu Buhari is critically ill and has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), we find it necessary to set the record straight,” Ahmad wrote last Thursday on X (formerly Twitter), adding that Buhari is on the path to full recovery.
