By Mosunmola Ayobami, Ilorin –
Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, following last Tuesday’s massacre of residents of Woro by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
He was received at the Tunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Senator Sadiq Umar and other state officials.
During the ongoing working visit, the vice president is expected to meet stakeholders, including the village head of Woro, the Emir of Kaiama, local government officials and security chiefs.
It was reported earlier that President Bola Tinubu had ordered the immediate deployment of a battalion of soldiers to the troubled community.
Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists reportedly invaded Woro, setting the community ablaze and killing more than 100 people.
An unconfirmed number of women and girls were also abducted.
On Wednesday, 75 victims were given a mass burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
Scores of injured persons were taken to hospitals, with some of them later discharged.
The attack on Woro has been widely condemned by both local and international communities.
