Shittu denies Siasia’s $50,000 bribery allegation against Mikel Obi

By Olaolu Joseph –
John Shittu, former agent of ex-Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi, has dismissed recent bribery allegations made by former national team coach Samson Siasia as baseless and unfounded.
Siasia had, in a recent interview, alleged that Mikel—through his agent Shittu—offered him a $50,000 bribe in a bid to secure a spot at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, a claim he said he rejected.
Reacting in an interview with Cable News on Wednesday, Shittu categorically denied the accusation, stating that it lacked any truth.
“I’m one of the most respected agents in the game; I don’t associate myself with damaged, inconsequential people,” Shittu said.
He further described the matter as one that does not deserve attention, stating, “For me, this is a forgotten issue.”
Meanwhile, concerned stakeholders and football enthusiasts have expressed dismay over the growing rift between Siasia and Mikel. Many have called for reconciliation and urged both parties to put their differences aside in the interest of Nigerian football.
