Sidi Ould Tah takes over from Adesina as AfDB President
Dr Sidi Ould Tah has been sworn in as the new President of the African Development Bank Group.
Elected on May 29, 2025, in Abidjan by the bank’s governors, he succeeds Nigeria’s Akinwumi Adesina, whose ten-year mandate ended on a note of reforms and major achievements for the continent’s development.
A renowned economist, Dr Sidi Ould Tah from the Republic of Mauritania has extensive experience in development finance management and international cooperation.
Prior to his election as African Development Bank president, he was president of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), a position he held from 2015.
