Social media user withdraws false accusation against Ondo Assembly member

By Boye Oyeyemi –

A social media user, Peter Michael, has officially withdrawn a false accusation made against Temitope Komolafe, a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly representing Ifedore Constituency.

Peter had taken to Facebook to allege that Komolafe was involved in the suspicious execution of 20 solar projects valued at ₦25 million. However, he has now publicly admitted the claim was baseless and misleading.

In a sworn affidavit submitted to the Federal High Court in Akure on July 8, 2025, and referenced FHC-AFD-1751981719-54064, Peter acknowledged that his post constituted cyberbullying and online harassment.

“I know what I did has affected his image negatively, and I am indeed sorry,” he stated. “I promise to be of good conduct and will not do anything again to defame his image.”

He clarified that the affidavit was made voluntarily, not under duress, and that the original post was made in error.

Peter also urged the Nigeria Police Force and relevant authorities to take note of the facts as presented in the affidavit, which includes his passport photograph for documentation.

The public retraction marks an attempt to resolve the defamation issue legally and formally.

As of press time, the lawmaker has not issued an official response to the development.
