Sokoto governor vows to reclaim refuse dumps converted to business premises

Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has vowed to reclaim all refuse dumping sites converted to business premises within sokoto metropolis.
He gave the indication while inspecting the ongoing refuse evacuation exercise at the Shehu Kangiwa square dumping site.
Dr Aliyu expressed dismay over the way and manner refuse dumping sites have been turned to business premises, which had affected refuse collection and disposal in the metropolis.
He promised to reclaim and revert them to refuse dumping sites, to improve refuse collection and disposal in the metropolis.
Gov. Aliyu further reiterated his administration’s commitments towards making Sokoto one of the cleanest cities in the country.
He said his visit to the site is to encourage the members of the committee, and ginger them to do more.
Dr Aliyu also urged the people of Sokoto State to be patient, as government is on course towards the promised land.
He thanked the people of the state for their fervent prayers, assuring them of his administration’s continued determination to executive myriad of meaningful projects for the state.
Earlier, a member of the sanitation committee, Muhammed Toro said the taskforce had so far evacuated 1,580 truck-loads of refuse across the metropolis.
At the Shehu Kangiwa refuse dump site, Toro said the committee had succeeded in evacuating 285 truck- loads of refuse.
He added that it had been four years since refuse was evacuated at the site, and commended the governor for setting up the taskforce.
