Sola Sobowale returns for King of Boys trilogy as Kemi Adetiba confirms third franchise

Nigerian star actress Sola Sobowale will return for King Of Boys’ trilogy in December 2025.
This was confirmed in an Instagram post by the actress on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
In the same vein, the announcement by Sobowale was also confirmed by Kemi Adetiba, the film’s director and producer in a separate post on X.
With the third franchise of the film set for December 2025, it is yet to be confirmed the platform which the third franchise will be released.
Although, the highly anticipated third franchise, which has been dubbed ‘The Beginning of the End’ is being touted to be released in cinemas, neither Sobowale nor Adetiba have confirmed the speculation.
The third franchise is expected to continue the saga of Alhaja Eniola Salami, a character played by Sobowale, which has captivated audiences since the first franchise in 2018.
In July 2024, Adetiba had hinted plans for a third installment. She teased fans with a picture of the script’s front page bearing the intriguing title.
The King of Boys franchise began as a feature film in 2018, introducing audiences to the gritty world of Alhaja Eniola Salami.
The narrative explored her rise in the criminal underworld and subsequent foray into politics. Its success led to the creation of King of Boys: The Return of the King, a seven-part Netflix limited series released in 2021.
The series, set five years after the original film, delved deeper into Eniola’s power struggles and thirst for revenge while navigating the perilous landscape of politics.
Praised for its gripping storyline, complex characters and outstanding performances, the franchise has earned a loyal fanbase across Nigeria and Africa.
