An officer of the Osun State Amotekun Corps, Peter Samuel Tope, has been reportedly killed in Ijeda, Ijesa land, following an unprovoked attack allegedly carried out by a serving soldier.
The deceased, aged 35, was assaulted around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday by one Opejobi Fiyinfoluwa, identified as a newly recruited soldier of the Nigerian Army.
According to a statement by the Corps Commander, Dr. Isaac Adekunle Omoyele, the soldier had earlier stormed the Amotekun station in Ijebu-Jesa in full military uniform, acting aggressively and threatening to “deal decisively” with Amotekun operatives.

Shortly afterward, Tope, who was riding a motorcycle, was stopped by the soldier and unidentified accomplices. He was reportedly struck on the head with a blunt object, causing him to fall, and was then subjected to a prolonged 20-minute assault.
The attackers fled the scene on a commercial motorcycle, leaving Tope severely injured and unattended, lying in a pool of blood.
Amotekun officers later rushed him to Wesley Hospital in Ilesa and reported the incident to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Ijebu-Jesa, as well as Lt. Col. Yunusa Isyaku at the Engineering Cantonment in Ede.
Despite medical efforts, Tope was confirmed dead in the early hours of Sunday.
The Corps has launched an investigation into the incident to determine the full circumstances and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
