Soun begins grassroots engagement with town hall meetings

By Adejayan Gbenga –

The Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, on Wednesday held a town hall meeting with residents of Ogbomoso North Local Government Area — including the Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government, Hon. George Ogunlade, the Soun-in-Council, and other revered traditional chiefs.

The engagement was part of a series of town hall meetings designed to involve residents across the five local government areas of Ogbomosoland in shaping what the monarch has termed the ‘Greater Ogbomoso Agenda’. The monarch had earlier met with residents of Ogbomoso South.

During the Wednesday meeting at Ogbomoso North, the monarch, while emphasizing the impact of education in harnessing his 25-Year Developmental Plan for Ogbomosoland, assured that the town would also not relent in the areas of healthcare, infrastructure, security, commerce, and agriculture.

Oba Olaoye, while calling for the people’s cooperation, noted that such a vision would not succeed without them.

According to him, “Where there is no vision, people go astray. But where vision thrives, progress becomes possible.

“That is why I’ve chosen to draw even closer to you — to be among you — to break down this vision, committee by committee, initiative by initiative. Already, our dedicated teams are working in education, healthcare, infrastructure, security, commerce and industry, agriculture, and more. But no vision will truly succeed without you. Your input, your voice, your commitment — that’s what will make the difference.

“…we are building one Ogbomoso, not fragmented communities. Together, we are shaping a model city — one block of vision and one action step at a time.”

Oba Olaoye also urged the people of Ogbomosoland to look forward to a beautiful event during the upcoming Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival.
