Soun of Ogbomoso hosts Ukrainian investors for sweet potato farming

As part of efforts to boost agricultural production and food security, the Soun of Ogbomoso, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, on Thursday received prospective investors from Ukraine at his palace in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

The monarch, who disclosed the meeting on his official Facebook page, noted that the investors plan to venture into large-scale sweet potato farming in Ogbomosoland.

Commending stakeholders for attracting foreign investment to the town, Oba Olaoye emphasized the importance of leveraging Ogbomoso’s agricultural potential.

During the meeting, the Soun reaffirmed his commitment to fostering economic growth in the region.

“Today, I had the privilege of hosting prospective investors from Ukraine in our great domain. Their interest in acquiring vast land for sweet potato farming is a testament to the rich agricultural potential of Ogbomosoland.

“Blessed with a favorable agro-ecological climate and fertile land, our region is primed for large-scale agricultural ventures. This initiative aligns perfectly with our 25-Year Development Vision for Ogbomosoland, which seeks to position our land as a global investment destination,” he stated.

The monarch also appreciated the Economic Empowerment Committee, Agriculture Committee, Umera Farms, and Hastom Farms for their efforts in attracting investors and exploring the vast opportunities in the region.

“As we continue to foster investment, Ogbomoso will not only experience infrastructural growth but also emerge as a key player in the global economic landscape. Together, we build a prosperous future,” the statement added.
