President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday received the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Oladunni Olaoye, Orumogege III, at the State House, Abuja.

During the meeting, the monarch requested the Federal Government’s intervention in power and water supply in Ogbomoso, the upgrading of the town’s General Hospital to a Federal Medical Centre, and the establishment of a research institute to promote the processing of Ogbomoso mangoes and cashew nuts.

Tinubu assured him that his administration’s reforms were stabilising the economy and pledged to direct relevant ministers to address the monarch’s requests.

He also highlighted the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as part of efforts to ensure that no student drops out of school due to poverty.

Oba Olaoye commended the President’s economic policies, especially the removal of fuel subsidy and reforms in the foreign exchange market.

He further expressed appreciation for the contract awarded for the dualisation of the Oyo–Ogbomoso Road and the appointment of Ogbomoso indigenes into key federal positions.

The Soun was accompanied by five other traditional rulers and prominent community leaders.
