South-West APC launches e-membership registration as Sanwo-Olu flags off capacity-building workshop

By Adeola Ogunrinde –

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially flagged off the All Progressives Congress (APC) e-Membership Registration Train-the-Trainer Workshop for the South-West Zone at the State House, Marina.

The workshop which was held in Lagos on Tuesday, aims to strengthen the party’s organisational structure, recalibrate member registration processes, promote demographic diversity, and ensure inclusive representation at all levels.

Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Lagos Deputy Governor, who represented the Governor at the ceremony, emphasized that automating APC’s system would help measure the party’s true strength in elections. “Digitising the database allows leadership to trace members to their ward level and synchronise activities at the grassroots,” he said. “It also helps gauge members’ confidence and engagement with the party.”

He further noted that the digitisation process would enhance the party’s internal operations, including nominations and the election of officers. “An effective administrative system reflects the party’s governance capabilities,” Dr. Hamzat added, urging those managing the exercise to ensure it met the expectations of the party’s leadership.

Senator Ajibola, representing APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described the party as a membership-based organisation rather than just a vehicle for controlling government. He highlighted that a verified and accurate membership database would strengthen the party’s legitimacy, track demographic influence, and prevent non-members from exploiting party resources.

“Our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has shown that politics is both scientific and engineering, driven by empirical data,” Ajibola said. “This exercise is designed to improve APC’s prospects in upcoming elections. The IT infrastructure is in place, and a high-powered delegation from the National Working Committee will supervise the exercise across six centres in the South-West.”

APC Deputy National Organising Secretary, Hon. Chidi Duru, explained that the South-West exercise would conclude the regional e-membership series. He noted that the programme would enable the party to verify and identify members from any part of the country, strengthening APC’s organisational efficiency.

The event was attended by the APC National Secretary, Senator Basiru Ajibola, members of the National Working Committee, Lagos APC Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, and party secretaries from all six South-West states.
