Speaker Obasa celebrates Oba Akiolu at 81
…hails monarch’s commitment to developments in Lagos
Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has congratulated Oba Rilwan Akiolu, the revered traditional ruler of Lagos, on his 81st birthday.
In a statement from his media office, Speaker Obasa lauded Oba Akiolu’s enduring dedication to public service and community growth, highlighting the monarch’s lasting influence on Lagos’ development.
Obasa, who holds the title Baa’sofin of Lagos, expressed admiration for the Eleko’s role as a custodian of Yoruba culture and Chairman of the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs. He commended the monarch’s wisdom and his contributions to both the traditional institution and governance in the state.
“Oba Akiolu remains a strong believer in Yoruba tradition, a faithful custodian of our culture, and a traditional ruler whose knowledge has been instrumental in Lagos’ progress,” said Dr. Obasa. “His reign has mostly brought peace to Lagos, and he continues to sustain our traditional institution.”
Speaker Obasa emphasized the monarch’s compassion and his role as a unifying figure in Lagos. “Eleko has brought honor to the throne of his ancestors, marked by unwavering dedication to his subjects,” Obasa said. “His leadership inspires us to achieve greater heights and fosters a strong bond among traditional rulers across Lagos.”
On behalf of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Obasa extended heartfelt wishes to Oba Akiolu, praying for his continued health and positive influence in Lagos.
