Sporting achievements in Akwa Ibom testament to Gov Emmanuel’s investments – Eno
Governorship aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) IN Akwa Ibom, Umo Eno, says the achievements recorded in sports in the state are a testament to Governor Udom Emmanuel’s investments.
The immediate past commissioner for lands and water resources said part of such achievements was Akwa United winning the Nigeria Professional Football League trophy for the first time in 25 years last season.
According to him, those achievements were testaments of good leadership and commitment to sports development by Emmanuel.
Other trophies won under the Emmanuel-led administration include the Federation Cup in 2015, Aiteo Cup in 2017 and the promotion of Dakkada FC in 2018/2019.
He also appreciated the organisers for hosting the tournament in his honour, adding that sports remains one of the best platforms to build unity and create employment which according to him must continually be encouraged.
He stated that a football academy is necessary in the state to groom young talents.
