State governors’ alleged mismanagement of federal allocations demands immediate and widespread public awareness-By Kabiru Adisa FCA

The Federal Government has been allocating substantial funds to state governments to drive development and improve the lives of citizens. These funds, meant to provide better infrastructure, healthcare, education, and overall economic progress, are being allegedly mismanaged by many state governors.
Instead of using the allocations for the benefit of the masses, they allegedly divert resources, leaving roads in poor condition, hospitals without essential facilities, and workers unpaid.
Many Nigerians are unaware of how much their state receives from the Federal Government or how these funds are meant to be used. The lack of transparency allows governors to continue mismanaging public resources without being held accountable.
It is time for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take a firm stand and expose this financial recklessness. A nationwide campaign should be launched to inform the masses about how much is being allocated to each state and where the money is going.
This campaign must be taken beyond Abuja and Lagos, it should reach the grassroots. Local radio stations in various dialects should be used to ensure that even those in the most remote areas understand the truth. Too often, people blame the Federal Government for their suffering, unaware that their own governors have received significant funds but failed to use them wisely.
In addition to public awareness, there should be stronger oversight. Independent audits and investigations must be carried out to track how state governments are spending their allocations. Those found guilty of mismanagement should be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others. The government must also work with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community influencers to educate people on the need to demand accountability from their governors.
Nigerians must begin to ask the right questions: Why is there no development despite the billions allocated? Why do schools lacking basic facilities? Why are pensioners suffering while state governments receive huge sums? If governors refuse to use the funds for the benefit of the people, they should be exposed and held responsible.
This is a critical moment for Nigeria. The masses must wake up, and the Federal Government must act. President Tinubu should lead this effort boldly, ensuring that every Nigerian understands where the problem truly lies.
If necessary, let the campaign go from town to town, village to village, and city to city until the people demand what is rightfully theirs. May PBAT succeed in his mission to build a better Nigeria.
