States, LGs get more allocations than before- Minister

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has revealed that state amd local governments now get more allocations due to the removal of subsidy.
Idris stated this during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Dutse, Hameem Nuhu Sanusi, in Jigawa State, urging state governors to use available resources to alleviate the suffering citizens are going through.
The minister disclosed that President Bola Tinubu was seriously disturbed with the current situation the citizens are going through, particularly in the areas of insecurity and economic hardship.
He stressed the importance of proactive measures and effective utilization of resources at the state level to address the pressing needs of the populace, urging state governments to prioritize the welfare of the people amidst prevailing challenges.
According to him, state governments now get more money from the Federation Account that can be utilized to address most of the challenges.
He stated: “The state and local governments as well as the Federal Government are now getting more resources due to the subsidy removal, that is why governors are now able to execute more projects in their states.
“We are urging state governors to use the available resources to help citizens out of the current hardship they are going through.
“What Jigawa state government is doing currently clearly shows its commitment to addressing citizen’s hardship.”
He further assured that the situation in the country would soon become history, as he sought the support of traditional leaders in promoting the government’s policies and programs.
Responding, the Emir of Dutse, Hameem Nuhu Sanusi, commended the Federal Government’s initiatives towards ensuring the well-being of the citizens.
