Stop blaming Tinubu, others over Osun LG crisis, lawmaker tells Adeleke

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Oluwole Oke, has urged Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to stop blackmailing President Bola Tinubu, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), the CBN Governor, and former Osun Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, over the lingering crisis surrounding local government administration in the state.

In a statement on Thursday, Oke, who represents Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, accused Adeleke of ignoring advice on how to handle the recent Court of Appeal ruling reinstating elected APC council officials. He blamed the governor’s aides for misleading him, saying the governor had surrounded himself with people “who do not mean well for him.”

“One of the reasons I left the PDP under your leadership is because you don’t listen to advice. I advised you on the Appeal Court judgment, but you ignored me. Only an illiterate lawyer will advise you against a valid court ruling,” Oke stated.

He said the legal window for appeal or stay of execution had passed, and urged Adeleke to cooperate with the reinstated council officials until their tenure ends. “Direct NULGE to resume work and allow the reinstated APC officials to function,” he said.

Oke advised that the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) begin preparations for fresh elections within 180 days or, alternatively, pay the officials their full three-year emoluments if they demand it.

He sympathized with PDP members who participated in what he called an “ill-fated election,” noting that many had sold property or taken loans to contest. He recommended they be compensated with appointments as Special Assistants or Senior Special Assistants.

The lawmaker warned that disobeying valid court judgments or politicizing the situation could harm democratic institutions in the state. He called for restraint, rule of law, and cooperation among all stakeholders.

Oke reaffirmed his belief in peaceful governance and urged Governor Adeleke to shift focus back to serving Osun people rather than engaging in political vendettas.
