Students are critical stakeholders in anti-corruption war — Olukoyede

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has described students as critical stakeholders in the fight against corruption, urging them to embrace integrity and take active roles in promoting accountability in society.

Olukoyede gave the charge on May 14, 2026, when students of Fairview Academy, Abuja, visited the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, on a study tour.

Represented by the Head of the Enlightenment and Re-orientation Unit of the Commission, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, Aisha Mohammad, he encouraged the students to become ambassadors of integrity in their schools, homes and communities.

He said the younger generation remained the nation’s greatest hope and stressed the need for them to uphold moral values capable of repositioning Nigeria for sustainable development.

“You are stakeholders in the future of this country. Just as your parents sacrifice to secure your future, Nigeria is also investing in you because you are the leaders of tomorrow,” he said.

Olukoyede also urged the students to support the EFCC as “foot soldiers” and whistle-blowers in the anti-corruption fight, noting that the Commission could not win the battle alone without the support of Nigerians, especially the youth.

During the sensitisation session, Deputy Superintendent of the EFCC, Abdulhameed Wodi, warned the students against cybercrime, including romance scams, identity theft, hacking, phishing and online fraud, advising them to avoid suspicious links and protect their digital identities.

Also speaking, Assistant Superintendent of the EFCC, Gbenga Akinwande, said the Commission’s Enlightenment and Re-orientation Unit carries out awareness campaigns and educational programmes in schools and communities, while also establishing Integrity Clubs to promote honesty and accountability among young Nigerians.
