Nigeria’s home-based stars delivered a stellar performance on Saturday evening, defeating their Ghanaian counterparts 3-1 to secure qualification for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The Super Eagles B overcame the Black Galaxies on a 3-1 aggregate after a goalless first-leg encounter in Accra last Sunday. Playing at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, the Nigerian side sealed their victory in style, scoring all three goals in the first half.
Remo Stars’ right-back, Sodiq Ismail, opened the scoring in the 18th minute. Shortly after, team captain and fellow Remo Stars player, Nduka Junior, doubled the lead in the 21st minute. Saviour Isaac capitalized on a defensive mix-up to score the third goal in the 26th minute, giving Nigeria a commanding lead before halftime.
The Black Galaxies managed to pull one back in the second half through Stephen Amankona, but it was merely a consolation as the Super Eagles B held on to their lead to win the match 3-1.
