Nigeria’s Super Eagles B suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss to Sudan on Tuesday, thus ending their hope of qualifying for the next stage of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Having lost their first game 1-0 to Senegal last Tuesday, the defeat to Sudan leaves the Eagles with no point from two matches, rendering their their final group fixture against Congo in Dar es Salaam next week Tuesday inconsequential.

Ikorodu City defender Leonard Ngenge had a very bad day, scoring an goal in the 23rd minute to put Sudan ahead, and committing a foul which resulted in a penalty with which the Sudanese scored their second goal just before the break

The Sudanese continued their dominance after the restart, with Yagoub Omer scoring twice in quick succession, first in the 55th minute, and then in the 62nd minute.

The defeat leaves Nigeria winless and goalless after two games, sparking criticism from fans and raising concerns about the team’s preparation and tactical approach.

Nigeria has now failed to progress from the group stage in back-to-back CHAN tournaments, intensifying pressure on the coaching crew and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to reassess the future of the home-based national team.
