Super Eagles coach Chelle snubs interviews to focus on task ahead

Fully aware of the importance of the challenging task ahead, Super Eagles coach Eric Sekou Chelle has reportedly made some decisive moves as he settles into his role.
One such decision is shutting the door on the media, refusing to grant interviews.
It was gathered that this decision is a deliberate effort by the tactician to fully concentrate on the assignment before him, especially at this critical moment as he develops strategies to ensure the Super Eagles bounce back into contention for a 2026 World Cup ticket.
According to reports, Chelle is “working quietly” and will not grant media interviews until after the two crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March.
A source close to the coach confirmed that the Malian-born tactician is entirely focused on winning both matches to revive Nigeria’s faltering World Cup qualifying campaign.
“Eric has received interview requests from major international media outlets, but he has politely declined because he wants to concentrate on securing victory in those two matches,” the source disclosed.
“He is working closely with his personal staff and top NFF officials to ensure the Super Eagles win their upcoming qualifiers.”
The Super Eagles are in serious danger of missing next year’s World Cup, as they currently sit second to last in their qualifying group, with just three points from four matches.
