Nigeria’s women’s national team, the Super Falcons, have arrived in Morocco ahead of their opening game at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled to hold from July 6 to 23.

The team flew in from Lisbon, Portugal, where they held their Portuguese counterparts to a goalless draw in a friendly match on Monday night.

Having lost in the final of the last edition to South Africa’s Banyana Banyana, the nine-time African champions are on a mission to reclaim the title, according to team captain Rasheedat Ajibade.

“We are focused on Mission X, and we will put in all efforts to achieve this,” said Ajibade, who will be making her third appearance at the WAFCON.

Head Coach Justine Madugu echoed her sentiments, stating, “We are fully aware of our mission—La Decima. Our goal is to win our 10th WAFCON title and bring it back home.”

Before the tournament kicks off, the Super Falcons will face the Black Queens of Ghana in their final warm-up match.

Nigeria will open their campaign against Tunisia on Sunday, July 6, in Casablanca, before facing Algeria and Botswana in the group stage.
