Nigeria’s Super Falcons began their campaign in the 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on a strong note, defeating Tunisia 3-0 on Sunday.

The Nigerian ladies confirmed their dominance over the North Africans and signaled their intent to clinch a record-extending tenth WAFCON title.

The Group B encounter, played at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco, saw coach Justine Madugu’s team net twice in the first half before sealing the win with a third goal late in the second half.

Asisat Oshoala opened the scoring in the 4th minute with a header, courtesy of a well-delivered cross from Rinsola Babajide.

With four minutes added at the end of the first half, Babajide doubled Nigeria’s lead following an impressive solo effort.

Chinwendu Ihezuo completed the rout with a third goal in the 84th minute, putting the result beyond doubt for the nine-time African champions.

The convincing win gives Nigeria a comfortable start and boosts their momentum as they prepare to face Botswana in their second group match on Thursday.

The Falcons remain favorites in the tournament, and their commanding performance against Tunisia reinforces their status as the team to beat.
