Super Falcons dominate WAFCON’s Best Eleven

By Tosin Omojola –
Expectedly, champions of the 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) held in Morocco, the Super Falcons of Nigeria, produced the highest number of players in the CAF Best Eleven lineup.
Only four countries—Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, and host Morocco—had players represented in the tournament’s Best Eleven.
According to the list released by CAF after the tournament, four Super Falcons players made the cut, with South Africa contributing three.

Tournament Best Player and Super Falcons skipper, Rasheedat Ajibade, leads the Nigerian contingent in the lineup.
The three others are goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who won the WAFCON Golden Glove award, Michelle Alozie, and the enterprising Esther Okoronkwo.
Dethroned champions South Africa have Refiloe Jane, Karabo Dhlamini, and Bambanani Mbane in the squad.
Grace Asantewaa and Portia Boakye were the two players selected from bronze medalists, the Black Queens of Ghana.
Host country and runners-up Morocco are represented by Ghizlane Chebbak and Ibtissam Jraidi.
