Super Falcons ready for Zambia clash, says coach Madugu

By Olaolu Joseph –
Head coach of the Super Falcons, Justin Madugu, says his players are mentally, psychologically, and tactically prepared for their quarter-final clash against Zambia at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Friday.
The high-stakes encounter is set to take place at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca from 5 p.m. Nigerian time. It is expected to be a thrilling contest with potential implications for the balance of power in African women’s football.
Madugu said the coaching crew has studied Zambia’s style of play, identifying both their strengths and weaknesses, and has tailored the Falcons’ strategies accordingly.
“We know the key players Zambia will rely on and the threats they pose. We’ve spoken to our players about staying focused and ready at all times,” he said.
He stressed the importance of eliminating errors, urging the team to stay alert, believe in themselves, and remain motivated in pursuit of victory, which he described as part of their ongoing ‘Mission X’.
A win on Friday would bring Nigeria a step closer to securing a 10th continental title since the tournament began in 1998 and reaffirm their dominance in African women’s football.
The winner between Nigeria and Zambia will face either defending champions South Africa or Senegal in the semi-finals.
