Super Falcons set for high-profile friendly against France
By Tosin Omojola
Fresh from a successful two-match friendly series against Algeria’s Green Ladies, the nine-time African champions, Nigeria’s Super Falcons, are now set to face France’s Senior Women’s National Team, Les Bleues, in a high-profile international friendly in France. The match is scheduled for Saturday, November 30, 2024.
The Super Falcons recently defeated the Green Ladies 2-0 and 4-1 in matches held in Ikenne-Remo and Lagos, showcasing strong performances by several home-based players under the guidance of coach Justine Madugu.
This month’s match against Les Bleues will be held at Stade Raymond Kopa in Angers, with a 9:30 p.m. kick-off time (local French time).
For France, this friendly serves as part of their preparations for the League of Nations in the spring and the 2025 UEFA Women’s Championship in Switzerland. Meanwhile, the Super Falcons see this as an opportunity to integrate new talent into the squad and prepare for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco next summer.
Notably, this will mark only the seventh time Les Bleues have played in Angers.
