Support groups pick N100m APC presidential forms for Osinbajo
Support groups backing the presidential bid of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have picked the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for him.
Osinbajo’s media aide, Laolu Akande disclosed in a tweet that the support groups picked the N100million worth forms for the vice president at the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday.
According to Akande, the groups picked the forms for Osinbajo while he was on his way to Cross River and Bayelsa states in continuation of his consultation.
“A passionate team of support groups and individual Nigerians from across the country have raised funds to support the purchase of APC nomination forms for the Vice President’s 2023 presidential bid. Today, the forms have been collected by representatives of the team just as the VP continues his interactions with APC stakeholders across the States.
“Today, he is in Cross River and Bayelsa states. It’s all about the desire & resolve of the VP to serve the people of Nigeria with all his heart, experience and insights,” Akande tweeted.
WesternPost gathered that the forms were picked on Osinbajo’s behalf by Chairman of The Progressive Project (TPP), Senator Kabiru Gaya who led the support groups.
Meanwhile, the Osinbajo Support Movement said its members contributed N10.7million out of the N100m used in purchasing Osinbajo’s nomination and expression of interest forms.
National Convener, Osinbajo Support Movement, Liberty Olawale Badmus made this known in a statement on Thursday.
“As His Excellency, Prof Yemi Osinbajo obtains his APC Presidential Nomination Form today, Osinbajo Support Movement, with all humility, is glad to announce to her members nationwide and entire members of the general public, her contribution of N10,794,000 of the total N100million form fee.
“It gladdens the National Secretariat of OSM and all our state and local structures to have joined in the contribution to an important note and history in the journey of our dear nation.
“A lot of patriots, committed souls and partners in progress have come together to ensure that our dear and revered Principal, Prof Yemi Osinbajo gets his nomination form to run for President. No doubt, this is another show of love, support and expression of genuine willingness to make Prof Osinbajo the choice of the party,” part of the statement read.
