Suspected lunatic hacks 3 relatives to death in Ondo State

Residents of Okitipupa area of Ondo State were thrown into mourning on Tuesday following the killing of three children in a suspected domestic attack.

The victims, reportedly from the same extended family, were said to have been hacked to death with a machete inside their residence by their mentally deranged relative.

The victims comprise a female student of the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board, alongside her cousin and another young boy.

Sources in the community said the suspect allegedly carried out the attack before fleeing the scene, leaving residents in shock.

A resident, who spoke anonymously, described the incident as horrific, noting that the victims were closely related. He said the loss had devastated the family, stressing that the children were full of promise before their untimely death.

Further findings revealed that the family head, identified as Baba Agbaye, had earlier left the house with his wife and youngest child for their farm, meeting the suspect on their way back, unaware that the killings had already taken place at home.

As of press time, it has been confirmed that the remains of the victims have been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital, while authorities are expected to commence a full investigation into the incident.

Confirming the incident, the Spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Jimoh Abayomi told Western Post that: The suspect has been arrested, and a thorough investigation is currently ongoing, adding that he will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
