‎Suspected political thugs kill APC chieftain’s aide in Osun

‎Suspected political thugs on Sunday killed Kazeem Oyebanji, an aide to an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Kazeem Oyewale, also known as Asiri-Eniba, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
‎
‎The incident reportedly occurred around 2:00 p.m. at the Orita Elelede area of Osogbo when Oyebanji was riding a motorcycle with another person.
‎
‎They were said to have been waylaid by some political thugs, allegedly led by one Emir.
‎
‎A source, identified simply as Toyo, narrated that the assailants ambushed the victims on the motorcycle and attacked them with cutlasses, after which they used stones to smash Oyebanji’s head.
‎
‎The source added that the friend who rode the motorcycle with the deceased managed to escape, despite sustaining machete wounds.
‎
‎It was further gathered that following the incident, some APC loyalists mobilised to the scene, raising fears of possible retaliation.
‎
‎Police operatives were later said to have arrived at the scene and evacuated the remains of the deceased.
‎
‎Confirming the incident, the Osun State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, said security operatives had been deployed to the area to restore law and order.
