Suspected Yahoo boys killed friend in Osun

Two suspected internet fraudsters popularly called ‘Yahoo Boys’ have been arrested by the Osun Police Command for allegedly killing one Oguntade Wasiu.

The suspects were identified as Wahab Hammed (28) and Adegoke Ayobami (32).

The duo and the deceased were said to be friends and are into yahoo before the alleged killing.

The victim was said to be making more money than the suspects, which led to jealousy and his eventual murder in an uncompleted building in Alaro area of Modekeke in Ife, Osun State.

Speaking with newsmen in Osogbo, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Yemisi Opalola, said the suspects were arrested on August 12, at Alaro Area in Modakeke, following an information received at ‘B’ Division, Modakeke .

She said: “Investigation revealed that the suspects and the victim were friends and internet fraudsters popularly called ‘yahoo boy.

“We discovered that the deceased make money more than them. The duo conspired and lured their friend (the deceased) to an uncompleted building in a remote part of Alaro area, Modakeke in a bid to collect money from him and in the course of struggle he was killed.

“The suspects made away with the victim’s motorcycle which was recovered at the second suspect’s house. The suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.”

She added that the state Police Commissioner, Olawale Olokode will not deviating from his earlier promise of not making the state a safe haven for criminals.

The suspects who confessed to killing their friend, said they matcheted him to death.
