Suspended Rivers Governor Fubara visits President Tinubu in Lagos

Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, paid a visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos on June 3.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of ongoing political tensions in Rivers State.
President Tinubu invoked Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution on March 18, leading to the declaration of a state of emergency.
As a result, Governor Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and the entire Rivers State House of Assembly were suspended.
In a national address, President Tinubu cited “months of intense political instability” that had “paralysed governance” and “threatened national stability.”
The President subsequently appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (rtd), former Chief of Naval Staff, as Sole Administrator of the state.
This is Fubara’s second known meeting with the President in recent months, following an earlier encounter in London, reported by The Africa Report in April.
