Tanker loses control, somersaults in Ibadan

By Adejayan Gbenga –
A tanker carrying 15,000 litres of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) somersaulted at the Toll-Gate area along the Ibadan-Ife Expressway in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The tanker reportedly lost control while in motion and veered off the road, causing a traffic gridlock.
Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday.
“The incident was reported at exactly 20:11hrs on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Our personnel, led by CFS Adedeji, arrived at the scene to find a fallen MAN trailer tanker with registration number EPE 299 XN (Lagos) loaded with AGO, with its content spilling out,” he said.
Akinwande explained that the team quickly covered the spillage with chemical foam to prevent any possible fire outbreak.
He attributed the accident to the driver’s lack of concentration but confirmed that no life was lost and that vehicular movement on the road has been restored.
