TDF criticizes PDP’s fuel price proposal, labels it mockery of national sensibility

The Democratic Front (TDF) has strongly condemned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s proposal of setting fuel prices at N250 per litre, calling it a mockery of national sensibility.
In a statement signed by TDF Chairman Mallam Danjuma Muhammad and Secretary Chief Wale Adedayo, the group accused the PDP of engaging in political gamesmanship with its fuel pricing proposition.
The statement took issue with PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba’s recent comments, which criticized President Bola Tinubu’s policies as draconian and responsible for worsening the country’s economic situation. TDF responded by describing these allegations as “reckless, careless, and irresponsible,” claiming that they ignore the damage caused by the PDP during its 16-year rule, which it says was marked by corruption and economic mismanagement.
TDF further accused the PDP of failing to use the revenue generated from high crude oil prices during their time in power to improve Nigeria’s infrastructure or reduce poverty.
It also pointed to the mismanagement of the nation’s refineries and alleged corruption in the privatization of state-owned companies, which the group claims contributed to high unemployment rates and a weak economy.
The statement highlighted the PDP’s handling of the oil subsidy regime and claimed that the party left behind billions of naira in unpaid subsidy arrears. It also criticized the PDP for manipulating fuel prices during its administration while the country faced consistent shortages of petroleum products.
TDF dismissed the PDP’s fuel price proposal of N250 per litre as hypocritical and ill-informed, urging Nigerians to ignore the opposition party’s “archaic antics” and attempts to undermine the current administration’s economic reforms.
