Terrorists attack Kwara community, kill three police officers

Suspected terrorists have again attacked Tenibo community in Kaiama LGA of Kwara State, killing three mobile police officers in the process.
The incident comes barely eleven days after gunmen killed three soldiers in Kemanji community following a prolonged exchange of gunfire, bringing the total number of security personnel killed in the state to six within two weeks.
According to local sources, the latest attack has triggered panic in Tenibo and neighbouring communities, with many residents reportedly relocating to safer areas.
It was gathered that the attackers struck in the early hours of Saturday, around midnight, when they emerged from nearby forests and launched an assault on a security base, killing three mobile police officers.
Sources said the gunmen overwhelmed the security operatives during the attack before retreating into the forest, as has become their pattern after carrying out such operations.
Residents who spoke on condition of anonymity alleged that security personnel have increasingly become targets of the attackers, who often take advantage of the dense forest terrain to evade arrest.
A staff member of Kaiama Local Government, who also requested anonymity, confirmed the incident, while calling for urgent intervention to curb the recurring attacks.
Similarly, the Chairman of Kaiama Local Government, Abubakar Abdullahi Danladi, confirmed the attack, amid urging the government to clear the surrounding forests, arguing that doing so would deny the attackers safe hideouts and enable residents to use the land for farming,
