I used to think I was an Igbo man by reason of my being the offspring of an Igbo father!
That has changed!
The new standards for identifying the Igbo man today – according to THEM are…
- You must believe that the North hates Ndigbo and are envious of us! That we are not capable of hating others!
- You must love OUR own criminals, defend them, claim the North is only victimizing them while magnifying crimes committed by people of Northern extraction!
- You must believe any and every lie told against the North; must be able to cook up lies of your own to justify your hatred for them!
- It is only the Northerner that can offend or hurt an Igboman. The Igboman is always the VICTIM!
- You are a Biafran – whatever the word means! And must believe that every crime committed in the name of Biafra is no crime at all!
- You must believe that Ndigbo are the wisest! As for Northerners…!
Finally, you must believe that it is only Igbos that are suffering in Nigeria! And that it is the fault of the North!
With these standards of identity, I’m beginning to wonder who I really am cause I’m none of those!
