The next Olubadan, Oba Olakulehin, up close & personal

Following the demise of the Olubadan of Ibadan land, His Royal Highness, Oba Moshood Olalekan Balogun, Okunmade II, discussions and speculations are rife as to who becomes the next king of Ibadan land.

In this report, Westernpost provides up close and personal information on the individual next in line to become the monarch of the ancient town.

According to the kingship succession arrangements in Ibadan land, Westernpost can authoritatively inform that the next in line to become the Olubadan of Ibadanland is the current Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the highest ranking chief on the traditional military line of Olubadan hierarchy.

Oba Owolabi Olakulehin was born on July 5, 1935. He is from Ita Baale in Ibadan North-east Local Government Area of Oyo State.

He became mogaji in 1983 and successively rose to the Olubadan line in 1986.

A retired soldier in the Nigerian Army, Oba Olakulehin was formerly the Chairman of Ibadan South-East Local Government in Mapo and was elected into the House of Representatives during the aborted Third Republic.

He is the owner of Olakulehin Printing Press and he also runs a bakery.
