Popular TikToker Peller has explained why he referred to music star Runtown as an upcoming artist, following backlash over his comments.
In what appeared to be a public apology, Peller clarified that he was too young to use a phone when Runtown’s songs were dominating the charts.
“When I was hearing Runtown’s music back then, I was too young to even use a phone. Peller never come town when Runtown dey Runtown. Please, forgive the poor boy. Let him breathe. God won’t shame us. I’m sorry, my brothers and sisters,” he said.
The controversy began when, during a recent livestream, Peller dismissed a co-streamer’s suggestion to feature Runtown, implying that the singer was unknown and no longer successful.
His remark quickly went viral, drawing widespread criticism from fans and social media users who defended Runtown’s legacy in the Nigerian music industry.
Peller’s apology has since sparked mixed reactions, with some accepting his explanation, while others believe he was merely trying to control the damage.
