President Bola Tinubu has called for increased intra-African trade and collaboration as key drivers of the continent’s development.

Tinubu made this appeal on Monday via a post on his X account after meeting with Rwandan President Paul Kagame in Abu Dhabi. The meeting took place on the eve of the 2025 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW).

Highlighting Africa’s vast potential, President Tinubu stressed the importance of self-reliance and unity among African nations to unlock economic and social opportunities.

“Africa has what it takes to develop itself. We have the resources, the people, and the capacity,” Tinubu said. “We must look inward to improve intra-African trade and collaboration to benefit the African people and the continent. The time for Africa is now.”

The meeting coincides with the global convergence of leaders in Abu Dhabi for discussions on advancing sustainability and economic development.

As earlier reported by Western Post, President Tinubu arrived in Abu Dhabi to attend the ADSW at the invitation of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The event aims to accelerate sustainable development and advance socio-economic progress across multiple sectors.

The presidency noted that the summit will serve as a platform to explore strategies for transforming global economies into sustainable models and fostering a new era of prosperity for all.
