Tinubu appoints Ismael Ahmed as Executive Chairman of PCNGi

By Kunle Sanni –
President Bola Tinubu has appointed Barrister Ismael Ahmed as the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi), a key component of the administration’s strategy to cushion the impact of fuel subsidy removal.
Ahmed’s appointment was announced on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
As Executive Chairman, Ahmed will oversee the coordination and implementation of the initiative, which aims to provide Nigerians with cleaner, cheaper energy alternatives through the expanded use of compressed natural gas (CNG).
The PCNGi is part of President Tinubu’s broader palliative programme designed to reduce the cost of transportation and energy while supporting environmental sustainability.
A trained lawyer, Ahmed, 45, holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Abuja and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006. He also holds a master’s degree in international relations, communications, and diplomacy from Webster University, Missouri, United States.
He previously served as Senior Special Assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari on the National Social Investment Programme from 2018 to 2022.
