Tinubu appoints Storms Records Obi Asika, as DG National Council for Arts and Culture

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Obi Asika, a Nigerian creative industry entrepreneur as the Director-General, National Council for Arts and Culture.

Asika is a prominent figure in Nigeria’s music industry, having founded and served as CEO of Storm 360, an indigenous music label.

The label is widely recognized as one of Nigeria’s top music labels, having launched the careers of many Nigerian entertainers in the early 2000s, including Naeto C, Ikechukwu, Sasha P, General Pype, L.O.S., Ms Jaie, Tosin Martins, and Yung 6ix.

His appointment is among eleven other newly appointed Chief Executive Officers for agencies under the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy

According to the statement, the President charged these appointees with the responsibility of carrying out their duties with the utmost professionalism, diligence, and patriotism, in order to make the creative sector more vibrant and robust.

(5) Ekpolador-Ebi Koinyan — Chief Conservator, National War Museum

(6) Ahmed Sodangi — Director-General, National Gallery of Art

(7) Chaliya Shagaya — Director-General, National Institute of Archeology and Museums Studies

(8) Hajiya Khaltume Bulama Gana — Artistic Director, National Troupe of Nigeria

(9) Otunba Biodun Ajiboye — Director-General, National Institute for Cultural Orientation

(10) Ali Nuhu — Managing-Director, Nigerian Film Corporation

(11) Ramatu Abonbo Mohammed — Director-General, National Commission for Museums and Monuments
