Tinubu approves full payment of Super Falcons’ allowances ahead of WAFCON final

By Kunle Sanni –
President Bola Tinubu has approved the full payment of all outstanding allowances and match bonuses owed to the Super Falcons of Nigeria ahead of their final match at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday, noting that the payments were processed on July 23 to ensure the team remains focused and free from any off-field distractions.
“The Super Falcons have been paid all their allowances and match bonuses, including entitlements for the upcoming final,” Dikko stated.
He added that the President directed the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to ensure that all players receive their full entitlements by the close of business on Friday, July 25, unless any individual players request otherwise.
“That is the expectation. No delays. No issues,” Dikko emphasized.
The Super Falcons are set to face hosts Morocco in the WAFCON final at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat on Saturday at 9 p.m., as they aim for a record-extending 10th continental title.
Nigeria booked their place in the final with a dramatic 2–1 victory over South Africa, sealed by a late goal from Gloria Alozie.
