Tinubu arrives in Riyadh for Joint Arab-Islamic Summit on Middle East crisis

President Bola Tinubu arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday morning via King Abdulaziz International Airport.

The president was welcomed by Riyadh’s Deputy Governor, Prince Mohammed AbdulRahman.

WESTERN POST reported that the president traveled to Saudi Arabia to participate in the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, which will begin on Monday, November 11, 2024.

This year’s summit, hosted at the invitation of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, follows last year’s gathering in Riyadh and will address urgent issues facing the Middle East, including the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict.

Background:

According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu plans to highlight Nigeria’s strong call for an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Palestine conflict and will advocate for renewed efforts toward a two-state solution as a foundation for enduring peace.

Tinubu would be joined by a high-level delegation, including Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Information Alhaji Mohammed Idris, and Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) Amb. Mohammed Mohammed.

Following the summit, the president will return to Abuja.
