Tinubu celebrates Adeoye’s AU election victory, reaffirms commitment to security

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to shaping Africa’s peace and security landscape following key electoral victories at the African Union (AU).

In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Tinubu congratulated Ambassador Bankole Adeoye on his re-election as AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security.

The president praised Adeoye’s leadership in conflict resolution, governance, and regional stability, emphasizing his role in strengthening Africa’s security framework.

In another diplomatic milestone, Nigeria was re-elected to the AU Peace and Security Council with 46 out of 47 votes, underscoring the country’s influential position in African diplomacy and security affairs.

“These re-elections are a victory for Nigeria and the entire continent as we work toward a safer and more united Africa,” Tinubu stated.

“I am confident that Ambassador Bankole’s continued leadership will further enhance Africa’s collective response to security challenges and democratic governance.”
