President Bola Tinubu arrived in Kaduna State on Thursday for the second leg of his two-state working visit this week. His Boeing 737 aircraft landed at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Mando at 1:27 p.m. local time.
At the airport to receive him were Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani; and the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.
Other dignitaries in attendance included Governors Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), and Nasir Idris (Kebbi), along with federal cabinet members and top state officials.
The President was welcomed with a military guard of honour performed by the Nigerian Air Force band. His itinerary for the one-day visit included commissioning key infrastructure and development projects.
Among the projects inaugurated were the newly established Institute of Skill Acquisition and Development in Riga Chukun and a 300-bed Specialist Hospital at Millennium Square.
He also commissioned 100 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses aimed at improving intra-city transportation and reducing dependence on petrol-powered vehicles.
A grand reception in his honour was held later in the day at Murtala Square, with dignitaries and supporters in attendance.
The visit, originally slated for Wednesday, came shortly after President Tinubu’s trip to Benue State, where he assessed the impact of recent attacks that claimed nearly 200 lives and displaced hundreds.
