Tinubu condoles Vietnam over passing of Nguyễn Phú Trọng

President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam following the passing of General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng.

In a statement issued by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity), President Tinubu expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of Nguyễn Phú Trọng, who was a towering figure in Vietnam’s political landscape.

Nguyễn Phú Trọng served as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, head of the Politburo, and Central Military Commission, making him the paramount leader of Vietnam. He also held the office of President from 2018 to 2021, playing a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s direction and policies.

President Tinubu praised the late leader’s unwavering dedication to Vietnam’s development, highlighting his significant contributions to the country’s political stability, economic growth, and international relations. “His visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to national progress have left an indelible mark on Vietnam,” Tinubu remarked.

The President also extended his sympathies to the widow of the deceased leader, Madam Ngô Thị Mận, and the entire family, acknowledging their immense loss. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Madam Ngô Thị Mận and the family during this difficult time,” he said.

President Tinubu assured the people of Vietnam of Nigeria’s solidarity and support as they mourn the loss of a great leader. “Nigeria stands with Vietnam in this time of grief, honoring the legacy of a leader who dedicated his life to the service of his country,” he affirmed.

Nguyễn Phú Trọng’s passing marks the end of an era for Vietnam, but his enduring legacy will continue to inspire future generations. President Tinubu’s message of condolence underscores the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between Nigeria and Vietnam, as both nations strive for peace and prosperity.
