President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Professor Anthony Adegbulugbe and Professor Mobolaji Aluko on their 70th birthdays, recognizing their outstanding contributions to academia, leadership, and national development.
In his message on Wednesday to Professor Adegbulugbe, Chancellor of Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Tinubu praised his achievements in academia, evangelism, business, and philanthropy. He recalled their shared moment in 2019 when they received honorary doctorates alongside the Sultan of Sokoto, His Majesty Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, and the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe.
The President highlighted Adegbulugbe’s exceptional academic record, noting his 1976 First-Class degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) with a perfect GPA of 5.0. He expressed confidence in his continued contributions to national development and wished him and his wife, Princess Afolake Adegbulugbe, good health and prosperity.
Similarly, President Tinubu celebrated Professor Aluko, the pioneering Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Otuoke, for his impact in education, engineering, and democracy. He acknowledged Aluko’s long academic career, including his tenure as Chair of the Chemical Engineering Department at Howard University, before returning to Nigeria to serve the nation.
Tinubu also recognized Aluko’s role in Nigeria’s pro-democracy movement during the military era, alongside other exiles in the United States. He commended his efforts in establishing the Federal University of Otuoke and his continued service in governance.
Following his vice-chancellorship, Aluko contributed to public service as Director-General of the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery in Ekiti State from 2019 to 2022. He later took on a brief role in the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities and now serves as the Infrastructure and Public Utilities Commissioner under Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
President Tinubu wished both distinguished professors continued strength, wisdom, and good health as they remain dedicated to national progress.
